For those of you who don't know, I love this show from the U.K. There has even been talk of remaking it for American television. It might be hyperbolic, sure, but so what. It's escapism, and it pushes the envelope. It also makes us painfully aware of our own prudence here in the good ole' U.S of A.

Just one in a long list, Skins has just done another thing right and decided to recast the show after two seasons. That's right, they accepted the fact that kids are only in high school for so long. It's not like the O.C. where you have 29 year olds playing 16 year olds.

Also, Skins is about a group of 6th form kids living in Bristol and it is entirely shot on location in Bristol and the soundtrack features many local artists. The O.C. was shot on a soundstage.

Anyways, Skins is currently recasting and I hope it sets a precedent this side of the pond. I am looking squarely at you, Friday Night Lights.

Check out the similarities between marketing campaigns for Skins and Gossip Girl. The only difference is that Skins actually has the content to back up these promotions, while Gossip Girl is on the WB and does not. There is no sex, nudity or anything fun in Gossip Girl, while Skins has tons of it every episode.

Did I convince you to start watching?
